RHYNO Chaser made it two wins in three starts when he flashed late to win yesterday’s $15,000 Sean Hofman Electrical Mornington Prelude (2100m) at Tamworth.

While the win gains him automatic entry into the April 27 Mornington Handicap, owner-trainer David Fromberg wasn’t sure if he’d return in two Sundays for the $25,000 Mornington.
“I’m not sure,” the former jockey said.
He bred the eight-year-old gelding and has seen the gelding son of Catcher in the Rye win four of his 32 starts.
Early on he showed plenty of promise too.
“He was second in the Spring Stakes at Newcastle and fourth to Samantha Miss in the Champagne,” he said.
“He was also favourite for the Spring Champion Stakes but got injured.”
While a Mornington start might not be his next run, it appears it will be for the placegetters.
Rhyno Chaser arrived in the last bound to beat Ruth Cooper’s Circle Of Fame by a nose.
She thought her gelding might have lasted but will be back on April 27 to contest the Mornington.
Third-placed Dustys Felt lumped 60.5kg yesterday and looked a likely winner at the 200m.
However the big weight told in the final dash.
“It was a big run with the big weight,” trainer Paul Grills said.
“Hopefully he’ll get a bit off next start.”
Unlucky runner was the Paul Berrigan-trained Maughan, who could find no way out from behind a tiring Sambora, Dustys Felt and Circle Of Fame.
