At a recent meeting of the conservatorium board, Peter Ross was elected board chairman after Ms Larkin chose not to seek re-election.
Mr Ross is the manager of Entertainment Venues for Tamworth Regional Council and has worked professionally in the entertainment industry as a director, producer, performer and teacher.
He also sits on the board of Arts On Tour NSW and through his position at Tamworth Regional Council is heavily involved in the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
The board paid tribute to the efforts of Ms Larkin, who first joined in 2004 and had been chairman for the past three years.
Mr Ross said under her guidance the conservatorium had undertaken a major review of policies and operational structure, including the creation of
a new full-time position of program manager, filled by long-term teacher and educator Noelene McGrane at the start of the year.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson recently met with the board, saying he looked forward to its continued growth and development.
