The 53-year-old truck driver was crushed and suffered critical injuries on Thursday night at a cotton gin on Watercourse Rd at Moree.
Ambulance paramedics rushed the man to Moree hospital but he died a short time later.
A WorkCover NSW spokesman confirmed an investigation had been launched into the accident because the module truck was unloading cotton bales from the man’s truck.
“Initial inquiries indicate that the truck driver was standing next to the vehicle’s trailer when he was struck by the module truck, or moon buggy, after it hit the trailer’s load stop, causing fatal injuries,” a spokesman said.
WorkCover is continuing to investigate the incident.
