Just before 4.30pm yesterday the RFS was called to a blaze on the Back Kootingal Rd near Nemingha after reports a tree had fallen on powerlines.
The blaze quickly spread across 2ha of crown land but didn’t threaten any properties.
About 10 firefighters were deployed to try and douse the blaze while an Essential Energy crew was called in to repair the broken lines.
Meanwhile, Fire and Rescue NSW crews were sent to extinguish a fire burning in the vicinity of Helensvale Ave off Amaroo Dr in Moree.
The grassfire was sparked just after 5pm and was creeping close towards houses before crews, backed by the RFS, attacked the flames.
