In a moving show of support, nine employees from Armidale’s New England Mutual branch cycled from Inverell to Moree
on Friday night for a special fundraiser.
Their colleague Dani Bridge, 22, is believed to be the youngest person in Australia to be diagnosed with a rare form of tongue cancer.
She recently underwent surgery at the Gold Coast and is now at home recuperating.
“Dani has made amazing progress,” fundraising organiser Bronte Egan said.
“Despite all she has endured, her positive attitude is inspiring.”
More than $25,000 was raised at the Hawaiian-themed benefit night in Moree on Friday.
About $4000 of that was via
a headshave from Christine
Jennings and Leanne Lysaught, who work with Dani.
Fourteen items were up for auction with the highest-selling item fetching $1040.
Dani said a few words on the night to give attendees an idea of the process she had already gone through and what was next.
“We were told people had never had such an emotional and uplifting night,” Ms Egan said.
