The evening is in support of the McGrath Foundation which provides support for women with breast cancer through provision of breast care nurses.
This summer the McGrath Foundation has engaged its 100th breast care nurse.
The Foundation was established by former Australian fast bowler Glen McGrath in memory of his late wife Jane who passed away in 2008 at the age of 42 after a long battle with breast cancer.
“All proceeds from the evening will go to the McGrath Foundation,” Gunnedah president Mike Silver said.
“The T20 match will feature one side made up of players who have toured overseas with the Gunnedah Schoolboys Kangaroos over the last 15 years, whilst the other team, the Galahs, will feature many of the more senior players from the grade competition.
“Former GDCA President Paul Lodge will captain the Galahs.
“I’m looking forward to playing and leading the Kangaroos side, having managed the schoolboys on two tours of New Zealand.”
Friday night’s game features some outstanding local players – Ben Middlebrook, Jamie Mitchell, Eddie McGuirk and Grant McIlveen all played for Central North whilst Cameron Milne is a former South Australian Country representative.
The Kangaroos team also includes Andy Mack, David Silver and Farran Lamb, who have all been members of Central North under age and colts’ sides.
Promising women’s cricketer Jordan Lumby has also been selected in the Kangaroos’ side.
The allrounder will be playing cricket in Lancashire, UK over the Australian winter following solid performances in the NSW Breakers program recently.
“I am delighted to invite Jordan to play with the Kangaroos in this important charity match – Jordan is an outstanding women’s cricketer,” Silver said.
