Brandon James Green, 21, chose not to appear on video link when his case fronted Armidale Local Court on Wednesday.
He was arrested after police raided a local home last week and is charged with attempted murder, maliciously destroy property with intent to endanger life, aggravated break-and-enter in company and three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in the company of others.
He is the second to be charged by officers from Strike Force Lynhale which was set up by Lismore police to investigate two incidents last year.
Police will allege Green, along with his co-accused Peter Graham, forced their way into a Spring St home and assaulted and tied up a 74-year-old man before they set fire to the home.
The man was rescued by emergency services.
Green did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.
