Highway patrol first noticed the blue Holden sedan after it sped past them on the New England Highway near Glen Innes just before 9pm on Saturday.
New England police Acting Inspector Stuart Gray said officers tried to pull the vehicle over before it accelerated away.
“Police discovered the vehicle had previously been reported stolen in Queensland,” he said.
“They pursued the vehicle north and police estimate the vehicle reached speeds of almost 200km per hour and on occasion was driven on the incorrect side of the road.”
The chase was terminated south of Tenterfield due to the dangerous driving before another pursuit was initiated near Tenterfield.
“The offending vehicle drove through Tenterfield at speed and the pursuit was terminated again,” Acting Inspector Stuart said.
Police then alerted their colleagues across the border who tried to stop it at Wallangarra before it took off again.
The vehicle was eventually forced to a stop after Queensland officers deployed road spikes in Applethorpe.
A 17-year-old Wood-ridge teenager was charged with disqualified driving, evade police, dangerous driving and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
A 26-year-old Ispwich man, one of two passengers in the car, was charged with four drug related offences.
Both will front a Queensland court at a later date.
New England police have signalled they will look at charging the individuals under NSW laws.
“Once they (Queensland) have finished their investigation we will be taking further action against the offenders,” Acting Inspector Gray said.
The car, which had been reported stolen from Walloon on January 8, sustained minor damage.
