LUCINDA Whitehorn has always loved the country music festival and a chance to get a look at what really makes it tick was simply too good to pass up.
“I feel that this experience will give me a greater appreciation of the festival and open the doors to new experiences,” she said.
“I see this opportunity as more of a journey than anything else ... (to) meet new people and enjoy the festival in a way I never have.”
Lucinda, 23, is sponsored by Tamworth Regional Council, where she started three years ago on a traineeship with the planning and community services department. She now works as a business support officer within the corporate and governance directorate, her main focus providing administration assistance to the council’s section 355 committee co-ordinators.
“I find my job rewarding and I am forever learning new skills,” she said.
When not at work though she likes to unwind on the sporting field, with her love of Oztag leading to participation with three different teams.
Lucinda’s also in training for the Tour de Rocks, a charity bike ride from Armidale to South West Rocks in April, and from two wheels to four legs, horses have also always been a passion.
For the next month though her thoughts are likely to be elsewhere as she prepares for her time in the spotlight as part of the queen quest, representing the place she describes as having “the amenities of a big city with a country- town feel”.
“I enjoy the sense of community the festival brings and the wide diversity of culture it shows,” Lucinda said.
“To be in the quest will just offer a whole new perpective.”
