Hopes of a mild-weathered country music festival are fading, with more hot weather predicted for much of the region and thunderstorms expected this weekend.
Temperatures are predicted to reach the high 30s tomorrow in some areas, which could see Tamworth welcoming country music festival visitors with temperatures as high as 39 by Thursday and Friday.
Narrabri will be hit hard, with the Bureau of Meteorology predicting temperatures of up to 40 degrees on Friday and 39 for Wednesday and Thursday with little respite for farmers looking to the skies for rain.
The tablelands could have a few showers and thunderstorms, with temperatures in Armidale expected to reach 33 by mid next week and Inverell could be looking at 37 by the end of the week, with isolated showers expected for the district until Tuesday.
