Tamworth’s newest attraction – Thorny’s Putt-Putt at the Longyard Golf Course – was unveiled to the public in style at its official opening on Saturday morning.
Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson was on-hand to cut the ribbon and declare the course open, while children were kept entertained with face-painting, a jumping castle and the antics of Rodney the clown.
A steady stream of players, ranging from the confident to the merely curious, turned up throughout the day to tackle the two courses.
Function manager Louise Waters said she was delighted with the feedback from players on both the advanced “Devil” course and the beginner “Dragon” course.
“Everyone seemed to be pretty happy with it. The kids loved getting out there and having a go and loved the giant lizard we have out there,” she said.
“The staff were nervous and excited at the same time, hoping that everyone supports the new venture.
“We didn’t get any negative feedback, so that’s a good start, and we were pretty happy with that.”
