A GROUP of dedicated locals now has the green light to fundraise on a regular basis to help a special little Tamworth boy.

The Aidan Jachim Special Circle recently got a fundraising permit to help out Aidan, 7, and his family.
Aidan has hollow visceral myopathy, which only about 2000 children worldwide suffer from.
The disease means his bowels are weakened, don’t contract normally and are unable to push food through properly, causing him to suffer symptoms similar to a bowel obstruction. He also needs to have a catheter inserted about five times day.
The group’s first major fundraiser will be a barefoot bowls event at the South Tamworth Bowling Club in Margaret St on Sunday, November 24 at 2pm. It will have a Christmas theme and the group will run raffles during the afternoon.
Aidan Jachim Special Circle events co-ordinator Tara Adams said the group wanted to help make the community aware of Aidan’s illness and what he and his family were going through.
She said Aidan’s disease didn’t mean a one-off event would suffice – ongoing fundraising was needed, so the group needed to get a permit.
“It’s basically our first (major) fundraiser, so we’re getting out there in the public so they know what hollow visceral myopathy is,” Mrs Adams said.
“We’ve put charity boxes in about seven business in Tamworth, and a lady from Coffs Harbour has taken five charity boxes for businesses there. She’s also donated a seven-week holiday for the raffle we’re doing.
“We’ve set this up in order that we can actually help pay for his health costs – his dental and medical treatments.
“They’re paying close to $12,000 a year on medical expenses for Aidan and at the moment he’s well.”
On International Rare Disease Day on Friday, February 28, the group will host a charity golf day at the Tamworth Golf Club.
“When you talk to businesses about it, they’re just so happy to help,” she said.
Mrs Adams said Aidan was even able to go to the recent monster truck rally in Tamworth after Jimmy from the Marigold Inn covered the cost of his ticket. While there Aidan also got given a T-shirt and poster.
