Shortly before 6pm yesterday, two cars were involved in an accident at the O’Briens Ln-Nundle Rd roundabout.
A Tamworth police spokesman last night said one person was taken to hospital. It is believed the accident was the result of one driver failing to give way at the roundabout.
Meanwhile, a two-car accident at a busy Tamworth intersection yesterday afternoon resulted in two people being treated by ambulance paramedics.
Police, the fire brigade and ambulance officers were called to the head-on accident involving an early model Holden Commodore sedan and a Toyota hatchback at the intersection of Bligh and Piper streets about 2.40pm.
A limited amount of detail was available about the cause of the crash but an ambulance media spokesman said an elderly man had been taken to Tamworth hospital with minor injuries.
“A woman aged in her 50s was assessed on scene but declined treatment,” the spokesman said.
Meanwhile, the Tamworth-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to an accident on the Newell Highway near Tycannah Creek.
Conflicting reports about the number of vehicles involved in the accident were coming through at press time.
Initial reports suggested a car towing a caravan had rolled on the highway about 2.30pm, blocking the Newell’s northbound lane.
Motorists were advised to expect delays in the area and to allow additional travel time.
