Today is likely to be a cloudy day with areas of rain, as a low-pressure trough associated with a cold front passing over the southern Tasman Sea extends across the state.
There will be a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, with top temperatures falling as low as 17 degrees Celsius in Guyra and a regional high of just 27 degrees at Mungindi.
Tamworth is heading for a maximum of 23 degrees, with a 90 per cent chance of rain and 20mm to 40mm expected to fall.
Tomorrow will be cloudy with scattered showers and daytime temperatures in the high teens on the Tablelands and the low to high 20s on the North West Slopes and Plains.
The end of the weekend will bring a partly cloudy day and isolated showers, before clearer weather on Monday.
