Year 11 students Alex Bennett and Harry Webster are friends of the family who rent their Hillvue home to the band, so jumped at the chance to meet them.
They said they played acoustic music, with their listening tastes being mostly hard core punk rock, and they played these songs acoustically.
Alex, a budding guitarist, has even made his own guitar as a woodwork project for school, collecting a woodworking award for it at the end of the school term last year.
It’s taken him three school terms so far and he said it should be finished in another few weeks.
And, he wasn’t taught by any master craftsman; he learned how to build it via Google and You Tube videos.
He said he made such a special project because he wasn’t sure whether he would return to school this year, but he is now ready to go back next week.
Jetty Road’s Paula Bowman said they were all very impressed with the guitar Alex had made.
The next time the band gives festival-goers an experience to remember will be tonight when they take to the stage of The Capitol Theatre with a couple of surprise guests.
“The Capitol has the best sound and there’s not one dud seat in the house,” Paula said.
“It’s comfortable and we get to use the whole thing with an amazing lighting show and a grand piano on stage. That’s the only gig all year we get to use a grand piano.
“At the theatre we’ve used some visual behind us and people get to see a different perspective.”
Following the festival, they will play gigs around Australia and in June will base themselves in Nashville for four months.
They then hope to appear at some festivals in Canada.
“We’ve had a good response recently there,” Lee Bowman said.
“It’s really exciting.”
They said they wanted to do some more writing in the US and get some more experiences.
Tamworth holds a special place in their hearts though because they were discovered busking on Peel St.
“We have some really amazing memories from that time,” Paula said.
Catch them on stage at The Capitol tonight from 8pm.
