Kasey said they’d had a couple of quiet weeks over Christmas and they were ready to get back into it now.
Shane said they looked forward to doing something different this week.
“The most exciting thing is that we’re doing something different this festival with the show, which makes it more exciting for us,” he said.
“We wanted to do something we haven’t done before so we’re going to try it out and see what happens. I think it’ll be great fun. We always have fun at Tamworth but this year we wanted to do something interesting.”
Kasey said the free show on Peel St was all about going back to the roots of when we started, which was busking in the street.
“I did a lot of in the first few years of going to Tamworth and have such great memories of doing that,” she said.
“It’s our way of giving back and saying thank you for supporting us for so many years- it’s a gift.”
Kasey said the idea came about through the year when they were discussing returning to Tamworth and they wanted to do some busking, then the idea grew and grew.
The gig will include the Wreck and Ruin band from their current tour.
This festival is going to be another busy one for the couple.
“We don’t want to waste the time, being in a place with that much music and not make the most of it,” Kasey said.
“We love seeing everyone play and we want to see our friends play and our favourite artists – Busby Marou and Harry Hookey – and also just check some stuff out that we haven’t seen before. You often stumble across them or you get a hot tip and they become our favourite artists.”
She said they’d also see Catherine Britt and Beccy Cole play.
“I think people think we see them play all the time, but we see them more socially and don’t get to see their gigs,” Kasey said.
