The campdraft was the first event to get underway on Saturday and continued yesterday.
Among the first to be completed was the junior draft for 8-13-year-olds and the winner was a local, Brendan Kelly.
He won on Miss Way with a score of 105, just ahead of Angus Capel on Amber with 101.
The encouragement draft was also run and won, with Russ Manual coming out on top with his horse Trewilga with a big score of 168 thanks to two successful rides.
Tom Duggan and Chief held onto second by a single point from Brooke Morris and Peptos Girl.
In the ladies’ draft, Meagan Hopkins and KS Echo was just too good for the field with a score of 91.
Three horses were ranked equal second on 89 points.
They were Erica Coulthard’s Mandy, Stacey Duff’s Bailey and Lexi Fitzgerald’s Roddick.
The maiden, novice and juvenile drafts were also underway yesterday.
Drafting continues until tomorrow.
The bullriders were also in action last night, but before the first of the rodeo events they got a taste of things to come in the bull futurity.
This event tests the best up and coming young bucking bulls but also provided the cowboys with some extra competition.
Again it was a local in Andrew Kelly who scored the best.
None of the bullriders managed two successful rides but Kelly’s single ride of 78 was the best when he tamed a bull called Reckless.
Lindsay Frizzell was second with 75 after he lasted the eight seconds on Ugly Kid Joe, while James Palin (69) and Tom Caldwell (65) also completed a successful ride.
The main rodeo events take place tonight to help bring in 2013 as the village’s population swells to about 10 times its normal size.
All money raised at the annual rodeo and campdraft helps fund a number of local organisations for the next 12 months.
