It is understood the machine crashed onto East Boggabri Golf Course.
Reports to triple-0 were that the plane had trouble after take-off and landed heavily.
Remarkably the plot escaped with cuts to his neck and face. He was taken to Boggabilla Hospital in a stable condition.
Fire and Rescue NSW, ambulance paramedics and Rural Fire Service personnel tended to the injured pilot.
