A friendly game between the schools was held as part of White Ribbon Day, a male-led campaign that aims to inspire men to take action against such violence and encourage change in others.
While Tamworth High won the game 38 - 18, the real winners were the White Ribbon charity and the Tamworth Women’s Refuge, for whom $2500 was raised.
The boys from both schools also held a barbecue last Wednesday to raise awareness of the issue and had a domestic violence worker from Tamworth Police come in to talk about domestic violence.
Tamworth High student Jaryd Stevens said it was especially good to get young guys in late high school involved in the campaign, because they were getting to the age where they would start to enter into serious relationships.
Teacher Kate McCrohon said the event received strong support from sponsors and West League Tamworth Club, where the game was held.
