Offensive language charges in Tamworth

A 40-year-old man and his 39-year-old wife have received fines of $550 for offensive behaviour after a confrontation in Tamworth’s CBD early yesterday morning.

About 2am police were called to the corner of Peel and Brisbane streets, where the couple were arguing with three men.

The argument turned physical and police said the couple were attempting to confront and physically fight the group.

They were arrested and issued with infringement notices for offensive behaviour.

The same night a l man was arrested and fined $550 for using offensive language in a public place, while a 33-year-old man will appear in Tamworth Local Court on December 10 on charges of using offensive language.
