Inverell-based Senior Detective Sergeant Steve Clark yesterday said officers had seized 112 cannabis plants in two separate raids. On Thursday, officers located 96 plants during a raid on a Delungra Coles Lane property.
"The officers attended the scene in relation to another matter, spotted the plants and got a search warrant," Sgt Clark said.
He said a 31-year-old Delungra man was arrested on seven drug and firearm offences, including cultivate, possess and self administer a prohibited drug and possess unauthorised, unregistered firearms and unsecured ammunition. The man will appear in Inverell Local Court on March 31.
Sgt Clark said the second bust occurred yesterday at 12.15pm at a Bundarra property.
The busts follow Mr Scully's announcement on Thursday that cannabis culture and hydroponic marijuana trade was on the increase. He said the Government was contemplating tougher legislation to curb cannabis use, particularly hydroponic strains of the drug grown indoors, under lights and pumped with chemicals.
