THE best junior tennis players from the north-west and North Coast will battle it out at Inverell this weekend for the title of Champions of Champions.

The tournament is the culmination of the year's Junior Classic Round Robin matches that have taken place around the two regions. Eight players from each region, in both boys and girls will compete in age divisions 10, 12, 14, 16 and 25.
It is the second year the Inverell Tennis Club has won the right to stage the tournament and about 150 players and their families, from as far away as Tweed Heads and Moree, are expected to travel to Inverell for the weekend.
Inverell mayor Barry Johnson will officially open the tournament at 7.45am today with the first games to start at 8am.
North West Tennis Club president Jean O'Brien said yesterday some of the players to watch out for will be Tamworth's Emelyn Starr and Gunnedah's Allison George in the 16 years girls, Kenric Starr (Tamworth) and Mitchell Power (Tamworth) in the 16 boys, Andrew George (Gunnedah) and Ross Truscott (Armidale) in the 14 boys, Rachel Asseff (Moree) in the 12 girls, Kirsty Asseff (Moree) in 10 girls and Joseph McDevitt (Moree) and Michael Wasson (Tamworth) in the 10 boys.
