Farrer won the 12-year premiership decider 26-22.
"It was a great game of football," City coach Manuel Salvadore said.
"But the simple fact was we didn't have the depth Farrer had.
"We just ran out of puff.
"With a limited reserves bench, the Lions gave Farrer a great run with hooker Cameron Pilditch one of the unsung heroes for the Lions. Matty Wilson was another to put his hand up.
"They all played really well, I'm proud of them all," Salvadore said.
Farrer coach James Austin said his side didn't benefit from the week off and played nervously early.
"When they got some possession they were right," Austin said.
"It's been a good season though. They only lost one game all year."
Vice captain and five-eighth Jake Hawkins was a standout along with captain and second-rower Dominic Horne and inside centre Rhys Sherrin.
Farrer's Buckley Shield and 14/15 year sides played off in the 14/15 grand final.
They had to wait a half hour or so after Gunnedah and Manilla played out a 42-all draw in their consolation 14/15 final.
The wait was worth it as both sides launched some major attacking raids.
Clint Gallagher's Farrer Gold side's ability to withstand a number of first-half attacking raids from the Luke Taylor-Wayne Hunter coached Buckley Shield side was a major factor in the side's 24-nil win.
The teams went to the break locked at nil-all but Farrer Gold piled on four second-half tries as the Buckley Shield side wilted in the heat and after Thursday's enormously unlucky Buckley Shield loss to Canterbury Boys High.
"That's the best they have played this year," Gallagher said.
"They defended very well in that first half when the Buckley Shield side had a lot of ball. They (Buckley Shield side) ran out of steam in the second half."
Farrer Gold captain and five-eighth Chris Oxford starred for his side and crossed for three of the second-half tries. Prop Nick Miller was another to shine.
