The Superspuds came back from a 14-4 half-time deficit to storm home in the second 40 minutes.
Guyra coach Errol Archibald said prop Dan McKemey and hooker Randy Mulligan had huge games in the forwards with winger Shane Mongta outstanding in the backs.
Archibald was effusive in his praise of Mongta who continued his try scoring ways.
“Electrifying,” Archibald said.
“He’s as good a winger as I’ve seen since John Ferguson. And he’s scored eight tries for us in the last three matches.”
Mongta also set up a try for Kurt Lockyer to score in the corner after he took a high ball and flicked it out the back.
Guyra lost a number of players in the first half with Steve Kliendienst the biggest loss. Reserve grader Ben Campbell then stepped up and played well at five-eighth and in the centres.
Archibald said his side controlled possession well in the second half with the forwards providing the momentum for the backs to use the space to great effect. And the Guyra defence also held firm with the Wombats scoring their second half try late in the game.
Archibald said Warialda’s Mick Davis, Michael Squires, Geoff Reardon and James Reardon all played well.
Narwan ended Glen Innes’ unbeaten run at home with a 44-24 win at Mead Park.
The Eels turned on the razzle dazzle in the second half after trailing 20-6 at half-time.
Narwan scored seven tries in the second half with 12 men after Steve Quinlan had been sent off for a stiff arm in the 21st minute.
“Coach Barry Vale had a bit to say to the team at half-time,” Narwan publicity officer Natalie Green said.
“The passion and desire to win for Narwan was strong from the first minute of the second half when Brian Dennison crossed for an exciting try after making a bustling run from half-way.”
Green said Bob Cutmore, Warren Cutmore, Gary Davison, Graham Smith and Brian Dennison were Narwan’s best.
Meanwhile Inverell’s dismal season continued with a 39-14 loss at home to Armidale. Armidale centre RJ Griffiths scored twice in his side’s win. Griffiths received the referees three best and fairest points with Greens second-rower Andrew McGann (2) and Inverell prop Tim McIntyre receiving one.
GROUP 19 POINTS TABLE: Warialda 14, Guyra 10, Narwan 10, Glen Innes 6, Armidale 6, Inverell 2.
