Lysaght, the recent Tamworth King of the Mountain winner, finished in front of Gunnedah’s Kath Murray and Tamworth’s Amelia McGovern, while Hillard beat Peter Loveridge and Matt Chapple in the 2.4km uphill race.
Over 100 athletes contested yesterday’s event, an annual fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House
Gunnedah schools took out the teams events. Gunnedah South took out both the boys’ (Andrew Pringle, Matt Sommerlad, Troy Campbell) and girls’ (Meagan Hopkins, Kim McCarthy, Hannah Quayle) primary division. The secondary boys was won by St Mary’s (Timm Hillard and Brett Quayle) while Alisha McCarrthy, Melissa Robinson and Sarah Mitchell combined to win the girls.
Allan Stranger and Elizah Stranger took out the baby in a stroller division while winners of the walk were Gunnedah’s Charlie Thomson and Nita Robinson.
They beat Tony Dale and Bede Preston in the male and Kiarney Denham and Sophie Smyth in the female.
Division winners were Gunnedah’s Andrew Pringle Tamworth’s Michelle Ballard (12 and under male and female), Gunnedah’s Matt Chapple and Tamworth’s Karina Lysaght (16 and under), Gunnedah’s Tim Hillard and Tamworth’s Colleen Webster (20 and under), Manilla’s Martin Drain and Gunnedah’s Kath Murray (30 and over), Gunnedah’s Dave Bennett and Karie DeGroot (40 and over), Tamworth’s David Aitcheson and Ruth Pope (50 and over), Gunnedah’s Rod Brady and Betty Crocker (60 and over), Gunnedah’s Bruce Reid (70 and over), no 80 year olds featured, while John Brooker took out the 90 and over.
