The six finalists — Brett Ritchie, 24 and Rafe Ritchie, 21, of Duri, Glen Thurston, 21, of Tamworth, Michelle Menken, 17, of Gunnedah, Priscilla Radoll, 16, of Westdale, and Georgina Torrens, 17, of Kelvin — were selected from a group of 100 entrants by Shelley Williams of Shelley’s Model Management and photographer Greg Nagel of Cleo Magazine.
Their faces have adorned the voting booth inside Toyota Country Headquarters in Tamworth since Wednesday while voting visitors decide which male and female they want to represent the district on the catwalk.
Toyota Australia deputy advertising manager Carmen Bekker said interest in the competition had been massive, with thousands of visitors to Toyota Headquarters in Peel St casting their vote before last night’s cut-off.
The finalists are participating in a fashion parade at Grace Bros from 12.45pm today before the announcement of the two winners.
Each male and female winner will receive a contract with Shelley’s Model Management and a $1000 Grace Bros voucher. Finalists will go home with a $250 Grace Bros voucher while one lucky voter will also be rewarded for their efforts.
Yesterday, a number of country celebrities led the way by themselves parading fashions on behalf of Grace Bros and Toyota.
Ms Bekker said Colin Buchanan compered the show that saw guests like Stephenie Grant, Dobe Newton and (a very pregnant) Pammy Jo Drysdale strut their stuff in the name of fashion.
