The 48-year-old Norlane man died in hospital after he was allegedly confronted by a resident while breaking into a shop in Corio, in Geelong's north, on June 20.
Homicide Squad detectives have charged a 31-year-old Corio man with manslaughter.
He is expected appear at the Geelong Magistrates Court later on Friday.
