The Tamworth Regional Youth Council has designed a week of inclusive, accessible and cultural activities to improve engagement for the city's kids and teens.
Youth councillor, Isla Farr, said she believed many young people in Tamworth didn't feel a strong connection to the city, especially the young disabled and Indigenous population.
"We don't tend to have a lot of youth involvement in the community," Cr Farr said.

To help improve this, council has spent past few months creating activities for 'Youth Week', which kicked off on Monday.
With around 20 youth councillors, the team brainstormed, workshopped and came up with the idea to host an accessible sports day at the Sports Dome on April 12 at 10am, and a cultural celebration day at the Tamworth Regional Youth Centre on April 9, at 12pm.
"It's all about building connections," Cr Farr said.
"Not just within our age group, but with those younger and older than us and understanding each other's perspectives and the struggles we all go through."
Beyond the events that have been specifically designed by the Youth Council, the region's young people will also have access to art workshops and the launch of an edible garden.
Given it's a week all about young people, Cr Farr said it was crucial they had a say in the events.
"It's really important that we have the youths' perspective on these events," she said.
"It's important that the ones who are organising them [the events], are the ones who understand what we need most.
Cr Farr said she hoped young people walked away from 'Youth Week' with a greater sense of community, belonging and understanding.
