In a rare occurrence, six sets of twins have begun their secondary education journey at Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School in 2022, a number that will go down in the history books.
Principal Clint Gallagher said while it's not uncommon to see twins at the school, the 12 students is something not seen before.
"We have obviously had twins at the school before, but never this many in one year group," he said.
"We are thrilled to have the boys start their high school life with us at Farrer - and the fact there are six sets of twins adds to the excitement of the new school year."
The 12 boys hail from from Nundle, Barraba, Spring Ridge, Guyra, Wee Waa and Tamworth, and three of the six sets are identical.
The boys - George and Henry Groth; Ted and Charlie Haire; Nayte and Maverick Foster; Alex and Max Burr; Gus and Tom Sadlier and Tom and Fred Green - all agree that it's special to have so many twins in the year group.
Charlie Haire, a boarder from Wee Waa, reckons "it's pretty unique".
"It's pretty cool," he told the Leader.
"It's pretty fun here at Farrer, there's lots of things to do and lots of sports to play. We love playing cricket, swimming in the pool, and playing footy down at the oval together."

The boys agreed they're lucky being a twin, because there's always someone to play with.
"It's pretty unique, I hang out with some of the other twins also," said Alex Burr from Nundle.
His brother Max Burr said the group have all become really good friends already.
"It's like having an instant family of brothers," he said.
The boys first met at the annual annual Farrer Open Day, and teachers say they're looking forward to watching them grow into capable and caring young men.
