Data released by NRMA Insurance on Tuesday shows the New England was the seventh most impacted in NSW by storm or hail damage during spring 2021.

Armidale recorded the sixth highest number of wild weather claims of any town or suburb in NSW during Spring, after being hit by severe storms and tornadoes in October.

NRMA found that NSW recorded nearly 10,000 home claims for wild weather during spring, with over half for hail damage.

Moree was the second most impacted town in the region, while Narrabri was third, Gunnedah and Tamworth were equal fourth and Uralla was fifth.

The wild weather that has led to widespread flooding has also resulted in a surge in insurance claims.

NRMA Insurance says the number of weather-related damage claims during the spring season, which included NSW's wettest November on record, was 35 per cent above average.

All up, 10,000 homes claimed weather damage from the insurer in Queensland, NSW and the ACT.

Nearly half the claims were for hail damage in the Coffs Harbour region in October.

Major flooding is still occurring on the Namoi River, which could send Wee Waa back into isolation with a major flood peak of near 7.1 metres predicted on Tuesday night.

But, according to the NRMA's research, locals feel ready when wild weather does hit.

A survey of 1000 NSW residents found that the New England is the best prepared region in the state and is feeling much better prepared now than in winter.
