The move was announced by Racing NSW after the track was "deemed unsuitable for racing".
From Sunday to Friday, the Armidale track received 56.8mm with the bulk of that coming late in the week.
On Friday, it was rated a Heavy 10 when the call to transfer the meeting was made.
In a Facebook post, the Armidale Jockey Club said: "Due to the recent rain and surface water still on the track the Armidale Cup meeting has been transferred to Tamworth this Sunday. Armidale members rights will be taken to Tamworth so please feel free to go and support both Armidale and Tamworth."
The Tamworth track received a similar amount of rainfall during the week and was rated a Soft 5 on Friday.
As of Sunday morning, the track is rated a Good 4.
