Michael Paul Charles Hurley pleaded guilty to the four charges against him on Monday in the hopes he would be sentenced, but magistrate Julie Soars pushed it back, arguing she was short on time.

"The difficulty is he is bail refused on other matters," she said.

"It's this other offending really that I have to have a look at, he was on bail at the time.

"If you're going to ask for an ICO [Intensive Corrections Order] I need time and I'm concerned I don't have time today.

"It's not just sentencing him with one matter, I can't deal with it until I know he gets an ICO on both matters.

"I'm sorry to do this but trying to get a custody sentence in on a Monday is difficult enough."

The 19-year-old has pleaded guilty to entering a dwelling with intent to steal; demand property with menaces with intent to steal; stealing property in a house valued under $2000; and one count of stalking and intimidation.

Hurley was handed a conviction without penalty for a charge of entering enclosed lands without a lawful excuse on Monday.

Police facts show Hurley entered a loungeroom on Mack Street while the victim was using the bathroom just before work in the early hours of the morning on November 9.

When the victim went outside he saw Hurley going through the backpack and said, "I want my backpack back", to which Hurley said "Don't come near me or I will kill you. I want money, I want notes."

Hurley then dropped the backpack and took off on foot, the victim later called police and reported a distinctive tattoo on his right hand shaped like a bird.

Police evidence shows Hurley was found hiding under a bed at a separate property later that day, and was taken to Tamworth Police Station and arrested.

Magistrate Soars adjourned the matter for sentence later this week.

"Mr Hurley I think that's best, especially if they want to try to convince me to give you an Intensive Corrections Order," she said.

"If there's a problem with drugs, he needs to have a plan if he is released back into the community."

Bail was not applied for and was formally refused.
