An investigation has been launched after a man died in a light plane crash on a property near Wee Waa this weekend.

Emergency crews were called to a property at Moomin Road, Rowena, about 138km west of Moree, following reports a light plane had crashed into a farm and caught fire.
The crash occured at about 11.50am on Saturday.
Crews from NSW Rural Fire Service extinguished the blaze, but the plane was destroyed.
Neighbouring residents attempted to assist the occupant prior to the arrival of emergency services, but the man died at the scene.

He is yet to be formally identified.
A crime scene has been established and police will work with Australian Transport Safety Bureau investigators as inquiries into the crash continue.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
A spokesperson for Fire and Rescue NSW said the service had been impeded from sending their Wee Waa brigade due to flood waters, and were forced to dispatch Narrabri and Moree crews.
