Greater Bank is supporting that work, with Yallambee Gunnedah Homes for the Aged receiving $3000 for winning the public vote in the November round of the #GreaterNewEngland Community Funding Program.

Moonbi Public School and Zonta Club Tamworth have both received $1000 as the month's runners-up.

Yallambee Gunnedah Treasurer, Tania Keath, said the organisation has been supporting locals for more than 50 years.

"We provide low-cost accommodation to people who want to enjoy their independence within the limits of their financial position," Ms Keath said.

"It's important that everyone, but especially the elderly, has a safe place, and Yallambee gives them a home-like environment, while maintaining their personal privacy.

"We're a not-for-profit community project which started in the 1960s and we are reliant on grants and fundraising to cover our costs, so this money from the #GreaterNewEngland community funding program is very welcome indeed and will help make our Christmas that bit brighter."

Greater New England Regional Sales Manager, Will Boyd, said people who've contributed to society throughout their lives have earnt a safe retirement.

"It's very important that people feel secure and have somewhere that affords them some privacy to call home in their twilight years," Mr Boyd said.

"We are proud to be able to help Yallambee out with some funding to allow their residents to live with dignity."

Voting in the December round of the #GreaterNewEngland Community Funding Program is open, with Animal Welfare League (Tamworth), Swimming Gunnedah Inc and Nemingah Public School P&C in the running for a share of $5,000 for the month.

The public can vote online at greater.com.au/greaternewengland until 5:00pm, Wednesday, 22 December 2021.
