When North Tamworth beat West Tamworth in round four last season, Greentree chose teen allrounder Harry Lewington to make his first-grade debut.

In the 2002-03 season, Lewington's father Don, the then-Redbacks captain, chose Greentree to make his top-grade debut.

Greentree is a right-arm quick like Harry.

Harry, who is also a top-order batsman, was recently named in Central Norths' under-16 Bradman Cup side.

He will make his third first-grade appearance when Greentree leads Norths into a season opener against Bective East at Riverside 2 on Saturday - weather permitting.

Greentree said: "I enjoy giving the kids a crack ... Donny give me a crack when I was a young fella, and I may or may not have deserved to have a crack."

He added: "I just feel like I'm ... not returning the favour to Donny's kid, but returning the favour to all the kids that we give a crack."

Greentree believes that "sometimes people just need an opportunity". "So I'm more than willing to give them a chance."

Another youngster the veteran quick will give a chance to on Saturday is wicketkeeper Will Doyle, who will add to his sole first-grade appearance.

Greentree said the current Norths side was "very similar" to the outfit who lost the grand final to Old Boys last season.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Old Boys and South Tamworth meet at No 1 Oval while West Tamworth and City United clash at Riverside 2.
