With the vaccinated population cleared to travel throughout the state, people have been keen to get out and about and Nundle's reputation as a cute but quiet country town has always made it a popular destination.

Tourists have slowly returned as restrictions lift across more regions, but the big difference came when Sydney-siders were cleared to visit regional NSW again.

That's at least according to Odgers & McClelland Exchange Stores co-owner and president of the Nundle Business, Tourism and Marketing Group Megan Trousdale.

"It's been an absolute pleasure to be open again and to see an increase in confidence in people coming out to Nundle and relaxing and enjoying themselves, and they're very happy to be out of their homes," she said.

"Once the restrictions were lifted between Sydney and the regions we had one of our best weekends since before the lockdown."

The economic boost has been felt further up the road too at the the Peel Inn Hotel, which is again playing host to many stoppers-by, especially bikers who roar into town in large numbers.

Owner Robert Schofield said it was incredible to see the streets packed with cars and motorcycles again on a weekly basis, and the only problem he had was finding enough staff to keep up with demand.

"People are coming here which is good, the trouble is just trying to deal with them when they do come here, but we try hard," he said.

"There's a lot of bikes, a lot of people coming here to get away and now the boundaries are opened up there's a lot of people coming up from places like Sydney."

The final piece to the puzzle of restoring tourism back to its former glory will come after restrictions are eased for the non-vaccinated and all state borders are opened, which is expected to be in late February.
