Heat one began in a lively easterly breeze and race officers of the day, Mark and Pru Kesby, got the fun started at 1300hrs.
Mick Bradfield won the start skilfully in his laser dinghy and led the fleet towards the windward buoy.
Helped by minor wind shifts, Hugh Evans in his laser and catamaran sailor Drew Green managed to get to the first mark ahead of Mick Bradfield.
Drew Green and his Nacra 5.2 revelled in the breeze and continued to lead the fleet over the three triangles and the windward-return circuit. Behind the Nacra, Bradfield caught Evans and held onto second place overall followed by Evans.

A special mention to grandfather and grandson team in the trailer-sailer "Spray", Lauchlan and Kevin Overton, for their fourth placing in the restored vintage sailing boat which has a fine history involving retired Tamworth jeweller Sandy McKinnon and Bective retired farmer Ted Sutton who were former owners.
Another highlight was the excellent sailing performance of Bob Tallon's trailor-sailer, a Castle 650, with a very enthusiastic crew of Crystal Bailey and Jeanette Bucher. Well done team!
Next weekend's racing will be a mini-regatta over two days to replace the planned inter-club event with Grafton and New England Sailing Clubs, due to the uncertainty of COVID restrictions.
The first race of the two-day series will be at 1400 hours on Saturday. The series will include two races Saturday and possibly three on Sunday. This program is to substitute for the inter-club regatta where much harder endurance is needed for racing a weekend series.
