TAMWORTH'S annual NAIDOC week celebrations have again fallen victim to COVID-19, with the committee postponing all major events until 2022.

National NAIDOC Week celebrations ran from July 4 to 11, but local organisers made the tough call earlier in the year to postpone the events to November 7 to 14 amid the ongoing COVID situation and government restrictions.

Now, as the region's outbreak continues to grow, they say the safest bet is to hold out altogether until next year's NAIDOC national week.
"We are happy to support any event or activities that individual organization are still running to recognize the 2021 Tamworth NAIDOC celebrations," the committee said in a statement.
"We look forward to being able to celebrate together in 2022."
A packed calendar of events were due to take place, beginning with a welcoming ceremony at South Tamworth Fire Station and accumulating in a dance and music showcase at The Youthie.
