Kane John Smith-Croft was refused bail in Tamworth Local Court on Friday and will remain behind bars until just before Christmas when his matter returns to court.
A 22-year-old man, Ethan Smith, was also charged with affray and two counts of assaulting a police officer in the execution of duty.
He was also refused bail in Tamworth Local Court on Friday and will return in November.
Neither have entered pleas to the charges.

A 24-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with intent to murder and affray after he allegedly stabbed a man in the face.
Just after 1pm on Thursday, Oxley Police District officers were called to a house on Thomas Street at West Tamworth after an assault was reported.
When they arrived, they were told a group of men had been involved in a fight, before the 32-year old suffered a stab wound to his head.
A crime scene was established once the man was taken to hospital and police launched an investigation.

Information led police to an address on Drakeford Place at Westdale shortly after where a 22 and 24-year-old male were arrested.
The pair were taken to Tamworth Police Station, where the 24-year-old was charged with intent to murder and affray, and the 22-year-old was charged with two counts of assaulting police and affray.
Both men were bail refused and will appear at Tamworth Local Court today.
