Four cases are from East Tamworth, two from South Tamworth, two from West Tamworth, one from Oxley Vale, one from Warral and one from Tamworth.

The spike in cases comes as Tamworth Public School announced a member of the school community tested positive on Wednesday night.

Hunter New England Health have reported two additional cases in Moree and one in Armidale. However Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall has said there are no new cases in Moree and two in Armidale.

The confusion comes as earlier in the week a positive case reported in Moree was not living in the area. The person had a residential address listed in Moree but was living in the Hunter region. It is unclear whether this is the same for the new cases reported by Hunter New England Health.

It comes as 79 new cases were recorded across the Hunter New England Health district, 24 cases were in isolation for their entire infectious period, 41 were infectious in the community, and 14 are still under investigation.

Fragments of COVID-19 have been detected in sewage at Barabba and Uralla, where there are currently no known cases.

Health authorities have urged residents to get tested if they experience any symptoms.

Across the state 293 new cases of COVID were reported and two people have died. While 86 per cent of NSW residents are now fully vaccinated.
