In the last week, 2282 Tamworth locals fronted up to be tested compared to 3273 the week before, and 3399 the week before that.
It comes after Armidale recorded two new cases yesterday, and a case initially recorded for Moree was found to be a person living in the Hunter region.
Across the state, more than 100 people are being treated in intensive care as COVID numbers continue to climb.
