Joseph Clive Fabre, 31, is behind bars and did not appear in Tamworth Local Court when his case was mentioned earlier this month.
The court heard the brief of evidence in the case had been finalised by police.
"Yes the brief is ... compliant, asking for a six-week adjournment," police prosecutor Sergeant Rob Baillie said.
Magistrate Julie Soars said Fabre's defence solicitor had emailed the court and consented to the adjournment.

The matter will go back to court in late November and the accused is set to appear via video link.
No application was made for Fabre's release at the time, but Ms Soars set a date next week for a bail review to take place.
Fabre is facing a string of firearm and ammunition charges after police were called to reports of a gun being fired at a home at Spring Ridge, south of Gunnedah, just after midnight on June 30.
Police forced entry into a bedroom at the home and arrested Fabre.
He was taken to Tamworth Police Station to be charged and has been bail refused since.
A search warrant was later executed and police allegedly seized rifles, firearm parts, ammunition, more than 40 phones and laptops and thousands of dollars worth of power tools they suspected of being stolen at the time.
Fabre has not yet entered any pleas.
