Member for Upper Hunter Dave Layzell said initiatives which focus on increasing participation in sport through events, development programs and facilities are the focus of the latest round of the state government's Local Sport Grant program.

"Successful clubs can receive funding of up to $20,000, with up to $50,000 available for each electorate throughout NSW," Mr Layzell said.

Applications are now open and will close on Friday, November 19 2021 at 1pm.

Programs will then be assessed and successful clubs will be advised of the funding outcome from April 2022.

According to the NSW Office of Sport, the program aims to increase regular and ongoing participation in sport, particularly among women, girls and population groups which are typically under-represented in sports participation such as culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, people with a disability and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people (ATSI).

The funding also aims to assist sports clubs in providing quality service to their members to meet the needs of their communities.

Clubs can apply for up to $2,000 in funding for sport development, $5,000 for a sport event, $5,000 for sport access and up to $15,000 in funding for sports facilities.

Applications will be accepted from incorporated, not-for-profit grassroots sport clubs whose primary focus is to organise sporting activities.
