A Tamworth real estate agent is popping the champagne after two of its employees shone at the recent industry awards.
McCulloch Agencies' George Barton has only been a stock and station agent for two-and-a-half years, but can already boast of one of the industry's most-prized gongs.
He said the company had showed a lot of faith in him, as a newcomer to the industry, and had been willing to put him on sales worth up to $11 million.
"Through the drought was probably the hardest part," he said.
"We were probably unqualified counsellors talking to people across their kitchen table. They're in a world of hurt financially and emotionally throughout that drought. To be able to help them facilitate whether they can stay, sell, or whatever they need to do. It can be a tough job at times."
Winning the Real Estate Institute of NSW Rural Marketer of the Year Award was "humbling" he said.
"In such a short period of time I've leant very heavily on some brilliant mentors, that's gave me a lot of information, a lot of advice," he said.
"I've just been surrounded, by some very talented people that have pointed me in the right direction."
The company had also shown an innovative approach to dealing with the COVID-19 crisis, holding a simultaneous auction in both Sydney and Tamworth.
Operational support staff member Sarah Weatherley was a one of five finalists in the operational support category.
"It was a great honour to be a finalist in the category," she said.
