Joshua Ty Tehoata, 29, and Tyson James Booby, 23, remain behind bars and did not appear in Tamworth Local Court last week.

Solicitor Madeleine Mulvaney from the state prosecuting authority, the DPP, asked for an adjournment because the Crown was not ready to confirm which charges to press ahead with against the co-accused.

"We've had a number of adjournments for this matter," magistrate Julie Soars said.

The court heard it was a complicated case which involved co-accused.

Ms Soars delayed the cases for two weeks and noted both matters "must proceed". She warned prosecutors the six-month deadline to certify charges was getting "very close".

The pair each face a string of firearms and weapons charges after police claim a pursuit was sparked in the early hours of May 15.

Police allege the passenger of the Ford Territory leant out the window and fired a gun at the police car as the chase continued through Nemingha, Kootingal, Calala and Tamworth.

Road spikes were deployed and the Ford eventually lost control and crashed through the fence at the Tamworth Golf Course.

Tehoata and Booby allegedly tried to run away before they were arrested on the course a short time later.

Police claim several bullet holes were discovered in the bonnet of the police car.

No pleas have been entered.
