Oxley police commander Superintendent Kylie Endemi told the Leader officers have not had to respond to any major issues right across the district since the new public health orders came into effect on Monday.
She said it was a really promising start.
"I would expect nothing else from a community like this, who is always trying to do the right thing," she said.
"I think that's the message, we just need to be kind to each other.
"We need to be respectful because the more we do that, the more successful our transition is going to be."
Superintendent Endemi said police would continue protecting the community with all of their normal operations as COVID-19 restrictions change.

She reassured workers that police are on hand to respond to any reports from businesses that may run into trouble as they enforce health measures, which now include turning away the unvaccinated from entering places like bars and restaurants.
"We will continue to be really visible right across the community, we will continue with our normal work," she said.
"If businesses need our help, if people are quarrelsome, or if businesses have any issues, then obviously the police will come and we will respond as usual," she said.
She said officers have been adapting to an ever-changing environment since the start of the pandemic.
"Our role is really just to support businesses and the wider community as we transition into this next stage of the public health orders and our pandemic response," she said.
New rules came into effect on Monday after the state's double dose vaccination rate climbed past 70 per cent.
The latest data shows Tamworth's fully jabbed rate is about 65 per cent.
The responsibility to manage vaccine passports among patrons and customers largely falls on owners and front-of-house staff.
