A SENSELESS attack has forced a West Tamworth childcare centre to temporarily close its doors after children's bedding and food were chucked over a fence.
Police claim that between the time Community Kids Tamworth Early Education Centre shut its doors at 6pm on Friday, and reopened at 7:30am on Monday, vandals broke into the centre and caused extensive damage.
Oxley Police District Detective Inspector Jason Darcy told the Leader the incident was "very disappointing".
He said police attended, canvassed the area and made a report but were unable to find any leads.
"They searched for CCTV but no CCTV was available at the centre or in the surrounding areas," he said.
"Forensics attended to take analysis of finger prints, and DNA, and are awaiting results."
Detective Inspector Darcy condemned the act of vandalism, labelling it as "very unfortunate".
Anyone with information should contact Tamworth police on 6768 2999 or Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
The centre is working to repair the damage so it can open as soon as possible.
