POLICE are searching for an elderly man after the home he owns was destroyed by fire earlier this week.

Emergency services were called to reports of a raging housefire on Anne Street in Moree at about 2:30am on Tuesday morning.
The home was destroyed when the blaze ripped through, and it took firefighters more than three hours to extinguish the flames.

No one was reported injured and the sole occupant of the home has not yet been found.
Police have not yet been able to locate the 75-year-old man who owns the Anne Street home and are appealing to the public for information on his whereabouts.
Officers described the man as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, of medium build and with blond, thinning hair.
Police said he may be travelling in a black Saab station wagon with NSW number plates of BQ52VJ.
