Green was allegedly shown boarding the Sydney-bound train in the hours after the stabbing death of Tamworth mother Teah Luckwell in 2018.

Prosecutors allege he returned to Tamworth in the following days.

The NSW Supreme Court hearing in Tamworth has reached its fifth week. The Crown called Detective Sergeant Scott Craddock, now officer in charge of the case, to give further evidence on Wednesday.

Green, 30, is accused of murdering 22-year-old Ms Luckwell inside the front door of her South Tamworth home in the early hours of March 28, 2018.

Crown prosecutor Brian Costello combed through CCTV footage with the witness, as well as phone and bank records, forensic evidence and further details of a police search of the accused's house in Calala.

Police searched an area around the Robert Street unit where Ms Luckwell was found dead, extending to nearby main thoroughfares and parkland.

The court heard the search turned up knives, a black glove in a drain and a pair of scissors.

Mr Costello questioned Detective Sergeant Craddock about CCTV footage which he alleged showed the defendant leaving Tamworth on a train and heading to Sydney in the hours after Ms Luckwell's murder.

Green is facing charges of murder, break and enter, and using an offensive weapon.

The special hearing continues before Justice Stephen Campbell, sitting virtually from Sydney.
