A MAN has been airlifted to hospital after he fell about three metres from a roof in an incident over the long weekend.

Ambulance paramedics rushed to the property at Purlewaugh, east of Coonabarabran, on Monday afternoon, after reports a 56-year-old man had been hurt.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked to the scene and the chopper's critical care team helped treat the man for suspected injuries to his back, chest and arm.

It is understood the man was up on a roof when he fell and landed on the ground about three metres below.
The man was stabilised for transport before he was flown to Tamworth hospital by the rescue helicopter for further treatment.
It is understood he was in a stable condition at the time.
